In late 2004, I was in a bad situation and I didn’t have a place to live. I was running around with my little baby and staying at the homes of different people. I never knew where I was going to end up next. My counselor, Tina Garcia, had told me about a lady who was trying to open a Maternity Home. She told me that she was willing to let me stay there a while. I thought I would only live there about a week, like I did everywhere else, but instead I ended up there for almost a year. That’s when I became a part of Baby and Me. I learned a lot while living with there. I was taught how to take better care of Daniel, my son, and I was taught what it was to be a Christian. I started going to church. I was raised Catholic but never understood anything about God. I started to attend church and learned so much. I understand who God is. Another great thing about Nancy is that she noticed whenever something was troubling me and she would keep talking to me until I gave in and told them. She always tried to make things better for me. Nancy would even stay up really late at night with me just listening to me talk even though she had to be up early the next morning. In the beginning it felt weird because no one had ever been there before me. But I got comfortable with that too. I think Nancy is an amazing person. She is raising her own children and still makes time to help others as much as she can, including me.
I am very grateful to have been a part of Baby and Me. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have done half the things that I have successfully achieved. Thank you so much Nancy and everyone else that helped me in my time of need.
